Folklife Collection - Local Legends: The Blue Dog of Rose Hill Plantation

by Salisbury University Students (1971 – 1971)

1 folder (0.1 linear feet)

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore in 1971, former Salisbury University students Patricia L. Smith and Caroline Newcomb collected local legends. For this collection, these stories tell of the Blue Dog of Rose Hill Plantation in Charles County, Maryland. Specifically, of a dog that haunts and protects the estate, after being killed for sleeping during his owner's murder. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
